Mr. James Y. “J. Y.” Day, Jr. age 85 of Douglas, GA passed away early Monday morning, April 11, 2022 at Lakeside Senior Care following an extended illness. Mr. Day was born July 3, 1936 to the late James Y. Day, Sr. and the late Geanie Jowers Day. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Elmer Day, Tully Day and Jeray Day; and 2 Sisters: Geraldine Moore and Floye Vickers.

 

 

Mr. Day, a native of Coffee County, was a retired self-employed diesel mechanic. He attended Sanctuary on Waldroup Avenue. He was also a veteran of United States Air Force.

 

 

Survivors include:

 

 

His wife: Betty Hill Day of Douglas, GA

 

 

7 Children: Teri Schuster and husband Richard of Jacksonville, FL
Randy Day of Callahan, FL
Deana Waldron and husband Gene of Douglas, GA
Jamey Day and wife Donna of Brunswick, GA
Wendy Hendricks and husband John of Orange Park, FL
Stan Hughes and wife Ginger of Douglas, GA
Trey Day and wife Teri of Douglas, GA

 

 

17 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren

 

 

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

 

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM at Sanctuary on Waldroup Avenue. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 PM at Sanctuary on Waldroup Avenue.

 

 

Memorialization will be by cremation.

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
