Dr. Justin Peterson, a board-certified OB/GYN with CRH Women’s Center in Douglas, Georgia, returned with his family to his Alma Mater, Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia, to present a welcome address to this year’s graduating class as they were inducted to the Alumni Association.

The ceremony conferred 172 candidates for degrees from the Mercer University School of Medicine across their campuses in Macon, Atlanta, Savannah, and Columbus. Andy Miller, CEO and editor of Georgia Health News, presented the commencement address, followed by Dr. Justin Peterson welcoming the graduates to the Alumni Association.

Dr. Peterson graduated from Mercer University with honors Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2010. He continued to the institution’s School of Medicine where he completed his Doctorate of Medicine in 2014. Additionally, he completed a four- year residency at the Medical Center Navicent Health, affiliated with Mercer University School of Medicine serving as the Chief Administrator for Navicent Health Residency Program. While in medical school and residency, Dr. Peterson’s focus of study was laparoscopic gynecological surgery, regular and high-risk obstetrics, urogynecology, and reproductive medicine.

The Mercer University School of Medicine aims to educate their students on the challenges of rural healthcare and underserved communities to improve access to primary and specialty care.
