Rev. Joseph B. Vaughn, age 75, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Vaughn was born on December 15, 1946, in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Marven Vaughn and the late Hester Harper Vaughn.

 

 

Joe gave his heart to the Lord when he was twelve years old. He began preaching at the early age of sixteen. He pastored his first church in October 1966. Joe also attended Emmanuel College and  South Georgia College. He graduated from New Life Bible College in Cleveland, Tennessee. During his lifetime, he served several churches as pastor. He was the current pastor of Cathedral of Praise in Douglas, Georgia. 

 

 

Survivors include: Wife: Marlene Vaughn of Douglas, GA, Son: Joey (Carey) Vaughn of Douglas, GA, Daughter: Heather (Ronnie) Sweat of Alma, GA, four Grandchildren: Charlie (Krista) Sweat of Alma, GA, Rachel Taylor (Tyler Stanfield) of Reidsville, GA, Adalyn  Vaughn of Douglas, GA, and Adyn Vaughn of Douglas, GA, Brother: Rev. Glenn  (Janie) Vaughn of Andalusia, AL, Sister in law; Faye Vaughn of Douglas, GA, In law, Richard (Judy) Nutt of Pitts, GA, In law, Margie (Donald) Cape of Cairo, GA, In law, Rev. Vaughn (Shirley) Wood of Alexander City, AL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: Father: Marven Vaughn, Mother: Hester Harper Vaughn, Two Sisters: Jettie Mae Griffis, Sue Sears and one Brother: Allen Sonny Vaughn.

 

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 6pm-8pm at Sims Funeral Home.

 

 

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 03, 2022 at 2:00pm, at Salem Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Vaughn, Rev. Byron Griffis, Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating and Heather Sweat giving a eulogy. The Interment will follow at Salem Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery in Douglas, Ga. Active Pallbearers will be: Charlie Sweat, Tyler Stanfield, Tidwell Carter, Ryan Hendrix, Shane Vaughn, John Davis, Michael Gaff, and McKenzie Crosby. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Eddie Wood, Stephen Wood, Tim Wood, Shane Rhodes, Shawn Rhodes, Dennis Stone, and Jeffrey Cape.

 

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
