The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

Michael Randy Weldon was originally arrested in November when investigators conducted a search at a residence where large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl were discovered.  Weldon was subsequently charged with: Trafficking fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine with intent, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug related objects and probation violation.

On May 16, 2022, Michael Weldon pleaded guilty in Jeff Davis County Superior Court to trafficking fentanyl and was sentenced to 25 years with the first 10 years to serve in confinement.  Weldon received credit for the time served since his arrest, any other sentencing time including probation will run concurrent with these state charges.  In addition to the plea, Weldon is also banished from the Brunswick Judicial Circuit.

On May 24, 2022, the Jeff Davis County Drug Unit and deputies were conducting surveillance on suspicious activity in the Walmart parking lot.  After observing what appeared to be a verbal altercation between two individuals, drug investigators approached the scene and noticed a jar of suspected marijuana sitting in the driver seat of one of the vehicles.  The driver of the vehicle was detained for the moment as officers continued to investigate.  After a search of the vehicle and its operator, quantities of marijuana, methamphetamine, illicit prescription medication and digital scales were discovered.  Officers then gained consent to search the other vehicle but no contraband was discovered.  Thomas Lee Jackson was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of schedule II controlled substance (hydrocodone), possession of schedule IV controlled substance (clonazepam), possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects and probation violation.

On June 2, 2022, the Jeff Davis County Drug Unit and its deputies located two wanted subjects with active warrants.  Officers arrived at a residence where Sara Nicole Wood and Alan Michael Roberson were attempting to avoid arrest by hiding themselves under blankets and behind TV stands in their home.  As officers arrested the two, other quantities of drugs were located.  In addition to violating probation conditions by leaving rehab, they both received an additional charge of possession of fentanyl.

On June 6, 2022, the Jeff Davis County Drug Unit conducted a search at a residence on North Williams Street in connection to drug activity.  After a search of the residence, Monica Lajoie was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.  Lajoie was recently released on bond for similar charges.
