Mrs. Geraldine Merritt Smith, age 77 of Nicholls, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2022 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, GA following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born September 3, 1944 to the late Jim Merritt and the late Marjorie Vickers Merritt. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Smith; her son Travis Smith. and a brother Ronald Merritt. 

 

 

Mrs. Smith, a native of Coffee County, was retired from Farmers Furniture having worked for them for over 20 plus years. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. 

Survivors include: A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. 

 

 

The funeral service will be held Saturday morning, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church with Dr. Shep Johnson and Judge Dwayne Gillis officiating. The interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. 

 

 

The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church near Ambrose, GA. 

 

 

Active Pallbearers for the service will be: Grant Gillis, Hamp Gillis, Michael Vickers, Christopher Merritt, Logan Pittman and Guillo Briceno. 

 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund PO Box 30 Ambrose, GA 31512 in remembrance of Geraldine Smith. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
