Drug unit reports busy July

The Coffee County Drug Unit (CCDU) announced another slew of arrests made in July, varying from charges of possession of methamphetamine to the distribution of controlled substances.

 

 

The arrests include:

 

 

July 11  

 

 

The CCDU arrested Berrie Durrance on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation.

CCDU officers located two wanted subjects, Jason Sanders and Sharon Snipes, at a local store. The couple was wanted on probation violation warrants for possession of methamphetamine.

 

 

Another wanted probationer, Alexa Austin, was located and arrested. Austin was on probation for methamphetamine-related charges.

The CCDU assisted an individual, Shawn Jackson, with his inoperable vehicle parked on the roadway. It was discovered that Jackson’s license was not valid, there was no insurance on the vehicle, and he was in possession of suspected marijuana and a syringe. Jackson was arrested and charged with driving without a license, no insurance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.

 

 

July 13

 

 

A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle occupied by Willie Courson. A search of Courson’s person revealed suspected methamphetamine and a firearm. Courson was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during a crime, and possession of drug-related objects.

 

 

A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle driven by Casey Lowe for distracted driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. It was discovered that Lowe’s license was suspended, and he was in possession of suspected methamphetamine. Lowe was arrested and charged with driving while suspended, failure to stop at a stop sign, distracted driving, and possession of methamphetamine.

 

 

The CCDU executed a search warrant at a residence in Coffee County. Suspected methamphetamine was found in the home, along with firearms. As a result, Robert Turner, Dustin Bowen, Rebecca Reliford, Joshua Freeman, and Robert Britton were placed under arrest. Freeman was charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Turner, Bowen, and Reliford were all charged with possession of methamphetamine. Turner faces an additional charge of possession of firearms during a crime and obstruction. Britton was charged with obstruction.

 

 

July 18 

 

 

The CCDU conducted a traffic stop on a wanted subject, Jermaine Graham, in Douglas. Graham initially stopped, but then fled from deputies down Gaskin Ave. into the Walmart parking lot, before wrecking his vehicle at the rear of the store and running on foot. Graham was located a short distance away at a local restaurant, attempting to get a ride. He was placed under arrest without further incident. A search of the vehicle Graham was driving revealed quantities of suspected crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and a firearm stolen out of Coffee County. Graham was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property, and participation in criminal gang activity.

 

July 19 

 

 

A sheriff’s office deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Chad Jones. A search of Jones’ vehicle revealed quantities of suspected methamphetamine and other controlled substances. Jones was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

 

 

August 1

 

 

The CCDU conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by probationer Noel Barnes.  A search of Barnes’ person revealed a digital scale and multiple baggies of suspected methamphetamine. Barnes was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.
