Mr. Jackey “Jack” Harper, age 71 of Douglas, passed away Tuesday morning, October 11, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness. 

 

 

Mr. Harper was born August 3, 1951 to the late Fred William ”Dub” Harper and the late Inez Taylor Harper. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Johnny Harper and Tommy Harper and 2 Sisters: Joyce Hinton and Debra Williams. 

 

 

Mr. Harper, a native of Irwin County, GA, had worked with the Coffee County Fire Department, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department and as an EMT for more than 20 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Harper was a member of the Georgia National Guard and he was also a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

His wife: Janet Elizabeth Evans Harper of Douglas, GA 

 

 

2 Sons: Scott Harper of Douglas, GA 

Rex Harper and wife Mandy of Douglas, GA 

 

 

1 Sister: Dale Hutchings of Monroe, GA 

 

 

6 Grandchildren: Ariel Harper, Gavin Harper, Lani Harper, Sam Harper, Keegen Harper and Evan Harper, all of Douglas, GA 

 

 

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

 

 

Memorialization will be by cremation. 

 

 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Kirkland officiating. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
