Mr. Bobby Joe Guess, age 75 of Pearson, Ga., passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at his home following an extended illness.

 

 

Mr. Guess was born July 20, 1947 in Coffee County, Georgia, son of Joseph Edward (Joe) and Bessie Crosby Guess. He had made his home in Pearson and was a l965 graduate of Atkinson County High School. He retired from Standard Container in Homerville after 22 years and then went to work with GCI, retiring after 25 years. He loved to hunt, especially with dogs, and enjoyed growing a garden every year and outdoor grilling. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jackie Lee Guess and Freddie Guess.

 

 

Survivors include:

 

 

Wife: Mary Alice Guess of Pearson, Ga.

 

 

Son: Bobby Joe (Jody) Guess, Jr. and wife Melissa of Douglas, Ga.

 

 

3 Grandchildren: Brianna Guess, Kyndall Guess, and Mason Guess

 

 

Funeral services for Mr. Guess were held Friday, October 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. Edward Mathews officiating. Special music included “Even Though I’m Leaving” and “When I Get Where I’m Going” presented by cd. The internment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery with special song “Wish You Were Here” rendered by Danny Dawson.  

 

 

Military honors followed provided by an Honor Guard contingent from Ft. Stewart, Ga.

 

 

Active pallbearers were Billy Baker, Danny Dawson, Shawn Wilkerson, Shane Hersey, William Howling, and James Gore.

 

 

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
