Mr. Cecil Mitchell Ray, age 83 of Douglas, passed away Friday afternoon, November 4, 2022 at Lakeside Senior Living at 1025 Chester Avenue North following an extended illness. Mr. Ray was born March 26, 1939 to the late Calvin Cecil Ray and the late Mary Edyth Mitchell Ray. 

 

 

Mr. Ray, a native of Goatrock, GA, was retired from the Coffee County Board of Education, where he taught Diversified Cooperative Training at Coffee High School. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Douglas. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

His wife of 62 years: Christine Ann Clements Ray of Douglas, GA 

 

 

Children: Samuel Calvin Ray and wife Samantha of Lax, GA 

Susan Ann Ray and husband Wade Tanner of Axson, GA 

 

 

Grandchildren: Jacob Calvin Ray of Ambrose, GA 

Luke Samuel Ray and wife Hannah of Lax, GA 

Madelyn Ann Tanner of Axson, GA 

Jessa Ray Tanner of Axson, GA 

 

 

Sister: Patricia Elaine Hardman of Fortson, GA 

 

 

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many Friends 

 

 

The funeral service will be held Monday morning November 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Stokesville Baptist Church in Atkinson County with Rev. Leroy Spivey officiating. The interment will follow in Stokesville Cemetery. 

 

 

Mr. Ray will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM to lie-in-state until the funeral hour. 

 

 

Active pallbearers for the service will be: Ben Corley, Jacob Ray, Luke Ray, Will Ellis, Hunter Sutton and Noah Prather. 

 

 

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations are to be made to Stokesville Baptist Church Building Fund Stokesville Church Road Axson, GA 31624. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
