Asa Ferris Whitfield, age 89, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.   Mr. Whitfield was born on December 28, 1932, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Asa Hatch Whitfield and Annie Maude Johnson Whitfield Poole.

 

 

Survivors include: His Wife; Sue Boyd Whitfield and several Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Whitfield was preceded in death by: Father, Asa Hatch Whitfield, Mother, Annie Maude Johnson Whitfield Poole, Step-Father, Dennis Poole, Two Children, Michael Whitfield and Dianne Whitfield.

 

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM, at Sims Funeral Home.

 

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 11:00AM, at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hattaway, Charles Stapleton, and Joanne Lewis officiating. The interment will follow at the City of Douglas Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Greg Childre, Andy Vaughn, Skip Anderson, Rand Vickers, Jeff Hennesy, J.W. Carver, and Jake Relihan. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ben Vickers, Ron Burkett, Charlie Wyre, Keith Graham, Melvin Young, Ronnie Cudd, Mallory Smith and Bari Waggoner

 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be sent to: First Baptist Church of Douglas, or Still Waters Womens Ministries in Douglas, GA.

 

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
