Ms. Marianne Hill Highsmith, age 80 of Waycross, GA, formerly of Coffee County, passed away late Saturday evening November 19, 2022 at Affinis Hospice in Waycross, GA following an extended illness. Ms. Highsmith was born April 15, 1942 to the late George Hill and the late Lucy Moore Hill. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death her husband: John Roy Highsmith; by a granddaughter: Rebecca Lynn Highsmith Day and 4 Siblings: Dianne Hill Wooten, Shirley Faye Vaughn, Bill Hill and George Hill, Jr. 

 

 

Ms. Highsmith, a natve of Douglas, GA was caretaker for children. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

2 Children: Lisa H. Rowell and husband Kenny of Douglas, GA 

John Keith Highsmith and wife Maria of Douglas, GA 

 

 

3 Siblings: Bobby Hill of FL 

Betty Day of Douglas, GA 

Tommy Hill of Douglas, GA 

 

 

3 Grandchildren: Dana Marzbanian of Bluffton, South Carolina 

Melissa Borland of Douglas, GA 

John Thomas Highsmith of Douglas, GA 

 

 

4 Step-Grandchildren: Luis Lugo and Jose Lugo both of Douglas, GA 

Dustin Rowell of Eastman, GA 

Caitlyn Mizell of Pearson, GA 

 

 

9 Great Grandchildren: Railynn Day, Bennett Marzbanian, Olivia Marzbanian, Charlie Parker Borland, Grayson Borland, Lexi Highsmith, Landon Highsmith, Camden Rowell and Cecil Kate Mizell. 

 

 

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating. The interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery. 

 

 

The family will receive friends, Tuesday evening, November 22, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home. 

 

 

Active Pallbearers for the service will be: Trey Day, Stan Hughes, Chan Hughes, Max Hughes, Dean Hill and Greg Harrell. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
