John Arthur Maxheimer, 81

John Arthur Maxheimer, age 81, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022.

 

 

John was born January 8, 1941 to the late, Dorthy Mae Spears Maxheimer and Daniel Frederick Maxheimer. He was raised in Jacksonville, FL and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1959.

 

 

He attended South Georgia College in Douglas, GA in 1960 and attended the University of Georgia where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry in 1964.

 

 

Upon graduation from college, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. John served one tour of duty in Vietnam and was released from active duty with rank of Captain.

 

 

John Worked with International Paper Company from 1966 to 1986. He retired from the federal government in 2006.

 

 

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Paulk Maxheimer; his children, Doug (Tricia), John (Janet), Stephen (Stephanie) and Stephanie (John Porter); his grandchildren, Collin and Nathan Porter, McKenzie, Payton, Blake and Cooper Maxheimer, Olivia Maxheimer and Katelyn Maxheimer.

A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 2:00PM at New Hope Cemetery.

 

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
