A wanted woman, 49-year-old Virginia Griner, has been apprehended and charged after she left the state with her two children after losing custody of them last week. According to a report, once Griner left court that day, she informed her roommate that she was picking up her children and going to “f***ing run.”

On Wednesday afternoon, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office reported that two 8-year-old boys had been missing since December 2. They informed the public that the children were last seen with their mother, Griner, who was possibly driving a silver 2004 Buick Century.

Later that night, the CCSO released an update stating that the children had been found and were both safe. Griner was arrested and charged after they were found.

According to a copy of an incident report, a deputy responded to an address on McDonald Avenue on December 5 in reference to a child custody issue. When the deputy arrived, he spoke to 50-year-old Jonathan Griner, who reported that he and Griner had finalized their divorce and that he had been awarded primary custody of their children.

Griner reportedly received visitation with the children every other weekend and had them that weekend. He stated that he was scheduled to pick their sons up at 6:00 p.m., but that when he arrived at her home, he was told by Griner’s roommate that she had “taken the boys somewhere on December 1 and never returned.”

The deputy then spoke to Griner’s roommate, who advised that once Griner returned from court on December 1, she stated, “I just lost my kids. I’m going to f***ing run.” She reported that Griner picked the boys up from school that day, and while they were there that night, Griner, the boys, and a truck Griner had been driving were gone.

Later that day, according to Griner’s roommate, a man referred to as D.J., whom she identified as one of Griner’s children, returned the truck to the home and said he “wouldn’t be back.”

The roommate also reported that she did not know where Griner was at the time, but that she knew Griner had an ex-husband, two daughters, and a son in Jacksonville, Florida. She also advised that Griner had two sisters in Virginia, but that they didn’t get along.

According to the deputy, he made several attempts to contact Griner but failed to reach her.

Shortly after, a BOLO for Griner and her children was released on the CCSO Facebook page.

That night, Griner and the children were located in South Carolina, with the children found safe and returned to their father.

Griner is charged with two counts of interstate interference with custody. As of Friday morning, she had not been released on bond.
