Firefighter Will Greene was named the Firefighter of the Year and Sgt. Robert Beecher was named Officer of the Year at the Douglas Fire Department (DFD) Appreciation Banquet on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

Several firefighters were recognized for their service with  The criteria for selecting the Firefighter of the Year and Officer of the Year are based on job performance, interpersonal relations with co-workers and the public, as well as other criteria.

“These firefighters were chosen because of their job performance and good attitude,” says Fire Chief Casey Wright.  “Both have a great personality and the mental ability that is needed to handle pressure on the scene with fires and accidents.”

Will Greene joined the Douglas Fire Department in June of 2016 and is the son of retired DFD Captain Bill Greene. Will is currently an Engineer with DFD.

DFD Sergeant Robert Beecher joined the Douglas Fire Department in October 2012.  Since that time, he has earned the Hazardous Material Technician Certification and has completed several training classes.

The annual dinner allows firefighters to fellowship with fellow firefighters and retirees. New members are also welcomed into their promising careers.

Appreciation is shown to every firefighter for their dedication to public safety.
