Dewayne Meeks, age 68 years old, of Bessemer, Alabama, passed away at his home, on December 12, 2022, from complications of a long struggle with diabetes. 

 

 

Dewayne is survived by son, Zach Meeks of Houston, Tx, Brother, Jay Meeks of Fernandina Beach, Fl, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse M. Meeks, mother, Helen Altman Meeks and sister, Kay Elgin. 

 

 

Dewayne will always be remembered for his quick wit, disarming charm, gift for talking and his love for being with his friends. Always the sports fan, Dewayne was a faithful follower of UAB sports and will be greatly missed by his UAB family.

 

 

A memorial service celebrating the life of Dewayne will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Sweetwater Methodist Church, US Highway 441 North, Pearson, Georgia, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11am.
