A 21-year-old is now facing a five-year prison sentence if convicted after he allegedly wrote a check in an amount over $3,300 on a Tender Care check and deposited it through a credit union mobile app.

According to an incident report obtained from the Douglas Police Department, on February 4, 2022, a corporal was dispatched to Tender Care in Douglas in reference to a forgery call.

The report states that the corporal then spoke to an employee of the business, who stated that a check for Tender Care had been cashed that he did not write or approve. The employee stated that his accountants had found the false check in late December 2021, and he had been in contact with Ameris Bank about the check but was still waiting to hear back from them.

The check, according to the report, was written for the amount of $3,376.43 on August 13, 2021.

According to the employee, he did not know who authorized the check and said that he was the only one who wrote checks for the business.  The corporal stated that he could not make out the signature on the check, but saw that it was made out to Dyquann McBride. The report also states that the employee did not know the person who wrote out the check, which was deposited through Navy Federal Credit Union.

Following a lengthy investigation, Dyquann Kardell Jamar McBride of Savannah was arrested for the offense, and charged with one count of forgery in the degree. He has not been released on bond and is being held in the Coffee County Jail.
