The Jeff Davis County Superior Court unsealed indictments leading to the arrest of several individuals involved in crimes of conspiracy, possession of dangerous drugs and firearms violations.

Leading up to the operation, drug investigators concentrated on drug patrol in Jeff Davis County and cuffed some unsuspecting suspects.

On December 6, 2022, the Jeff Davis K-9 unit initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation.  During the stop, canine Zeta was deployed and detected the odor of narcotics.  While speaking to the driver, a bag of suspected cocaine fell out of his hat.  The contraband was retrieved and a search of the vehicle was conducted and drug paraphernalia was discovered. Skylar Howell was arrested on drug charges.

On December 9, 2022 the Jeff Davis Drug Investigators and their K9 initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation.  Upon speaking with the occupants, its learned that controlled substances are in the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle and its occupants revealed that two of the three occupants were in possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Terrell Anderson and colen white were arrested.

On December 13, 2022 the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the drug investigators arrested four individuals after a traffic stop turned into drug possession and firearms violations. Austin Hand, Lindsey Miller, Demario Slocum and Shirley McCoy were arrested.

On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, the sheriffs office conducted OPERATION DECK THE HALLS.  The purpose of this sting was to concentrate on dangerous drugs on the street level.  There are different levels of the drug trade — the street level, middle level and upper level (the source). These dangerous drugs are ripping families apart and destroying lives. As officers descended on these wanted individuals, they encountered other fugitives with outstanding warrants and one other who was found with suspected methamphetamine on his person that “wasn’t his.”
