Mr. Melvin Johns, age 66 of Douglas, GA passed away Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2023 at U. F. Health in Jacksonville, FL from injuries received in an auto accident. Mr. Johns was born July 26, 1956 to the late Albert Lee Johns and the late Hazel Chaney Johns. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Son, Jeremy Johns, 2 Siblings, Jo Ann Hilliard and David Johns. 

 

 

Mr. Johns, a native of Douglas, had worked at the hatchery at Golden Poultry Farms for a number of years. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. 

Survivors include: 

 

 

1 Son: Lee Chaney Johns and wife Bobbie of Douglas, GA 

 

 

4 Siblings: Frances Phinazee and husband Donald; Linda Grantham and husband Wendell; and Ernest Johns and wife Beverly, all of Douglas, GA 

Charles Johns of Millwood, GA 

 

 

3 Grandchildren: Isabella Johns and fiancé Toby Patterson of Adel, GA 

Hope Murray and husband Don of Pearson, GA 

Hannah Lanier and husband Brian of Douglas, GA 

 

 

2 Great Grandchildren: Elcie Grace Murray of Pearson, GA 

Charity Fayth Lanier of Douglas, GA 

 

 

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many Friends 

 

 

The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon, January 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Pine Grove Baptist Church. The interment will follow at Chatterton Cemetery. 

 

 

The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening, January 18, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
