An alleged pecan theft resulted in a felony charge for a 54-year-old Broxton man after he was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine when questioned by officers.

According to a copy of a Broxton Police Department incident report, on January 23, an officer was dispatched to a residence on West Avenue in reference to a criminal trespass. When the officer arrived, he spoke to the property owner, who reported that a man had been taking pecans from the property. After speaking to the complainant, the officer reportedly made contact with a male wearing clothes described by the property owner. The officer noted that the individual was identified as Tony Lee Quattlebaum.

The officer reported that he asked Quattlebaum if he had been at the residence on West Avenue. Quattlebaum told the officer that he was at the property, but left when he was asked to. Quattlebaum was asked if he had anything illegal on him, and he then gave the officer permission to conduct a search. During the search, the officer discovered a small plastic bag that contained a white substance, which showed a positive result for methamphetamine once field-tested.

Officers charged Quattlebaum with one count of possession of methamphetamine, and he is currently held in the Coffee County Jail.
