Investigators with multiple agencies, including the Jesup-Wayne Tactical Narcotics Team and Alma-Bacon CSU Narcotics Unit, recently discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine and ecstasy following a year-long investigation.

According to a press release, the multi-agency investigation led to a search at the home of 34-year-old Melvin Jackson on South Palm Street in Jesup on February 10. During the search, detectives found 114 grams of methamphetamine and 245 grams of ecstasy (MDMA). The release stated that officers recovered $1,100 and two vehicles. Following the search, Jackson and 69-year-old Horace Boyd, 75-year-old Joseph Nelson, 60-year-old Mary Jernigan, and 54-year-old Deborah Jackson, were arrested.

They now face multiple charges, including, but not limited to, distribution of a controlled substance, trafficking ecstasy, and trafficking methamphetamine.

Officials also stated that the investigation is ongoing and may result in further arrests. The release thanked all agencies that participated in the investigation, including the Alma Police Department, the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, and Federal Probation.
