Mr. Chester Brown, age 84 years old, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023, at his home following an extended illness. 

 

 

He was born in Atkinson County on January 2, 1939, son of Charles Phillip and Gladys Stone Brown.  After living in Albany, Ga for a while, Mr. Chester then moved to Austin, MN, where he retired after 25 years, from George A. Hormel Co.  He moved back to Pearson in 1986 and became the owner and operator of Brown’s Deer Processing for many years.  Chester served as Atkinson County Commissioner and served on the Board for Satilla R.E.M.C. Credentials and Election Committee.  He enjoyed cooking and processing sausage, fishing, and quail hunting, but most importantly, he loved spending time and making memories with his children and grandchildren.  Mr. Chester was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his sister, Norma Jean Brown Smith, and 2 brothers, Jimmy Brown and Charles Brown.

 

 

Survivors Include:

 

 

Wife of 63 years: Sue Fussell Brown of Pearson, Ga.  

 

 

2 Sons:  Steve Brown of Douglas, Ga.

Pat Brown and wife Tracey of Axson, Ga.

 

 

2 Sisters-in-Law:  Janice Brown of Pearson, Ga.

Elaine Brown of Pearson, Ga.

 

 

7 Grandchildren:  Heather Lunt, Jennifer Harwell and husband Justin, Ashlee Ellis and husband Keagan, Michael Brown, Justin Brown, Lee Ann Brown, and Matthew Brown.

 

 

7 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives survive.

 

 

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Brown were held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Satilla Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Fussell and Rev. Ed Gilliard officiating. Special musical selections included, “Go Rest High” and “Amazing Grace” both rendered by cd.  The interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

 

 

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Michael Brown, Justin Brown, Matthew Brown, Steve Cady, James Parley Gore, Jr. and Jason Brown. 

 

 

Serving as honorary pallbearers were:  Julian Haskins, Cleveland Register, James Joyce, Jimmy Metts, Junior Stone, Marvin Lott, Jim Brown, Bartley Nugent, Wallace Youngblood, Herman Fussell, and Danny Spikes.
