The South Georgia State College Hawks pulled away late in the second half Saturday afternoon to defeat the Andrew College Tigers 73-53.

SGSC (21-7, 10-4 GCAA) was led by Kyric Davis who finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots, and three steals. Carlos Hart had 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and seven steals.

The Hawks held the Tigers to 35.1 percent shooting for the game. Andrew made only 47.4 percent of its free throws while shooting 15.4 percent from beyond the arc. SGSC’s defense forced 24 turnovers, which included 15 steals.

SGSC’s defensive stats didn’t deter Andrew from keeping the game close. The Tigers cut the lead to four points midway through the second half before the Hawks mounted their final scoring run to pull away for the win.

SGSC will host Southern Crescent Tech this Saturday at 3 p.m. in Waycross in the regular season finale.

Currently, the Hawks are the third seed in the GCAA standings with two regular season games remaining. The top four teams will qualify to host a GCAA Tournament quarterfinal game Tuesday, March 7. The GCAA semifinals and championship game will be played March 10-11 at the highest remaining seed following the quarterfinal round.

General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
