In a concerted effort to cooperate with the request of the Douglas-Coffee County Animal Shelter, the City of Douglas Animal Control may no longer accept owner-surrendered dogs and cats.

If an owner wishes to surrender a dog or cat, the owner must contact the Animal Shelter at (912) 384-8031 to schedule an appointment on a Monday or Wednesday. Upon surrendering the dog/cat, the owner must pay a $50 fee for the care of the animal to the Douglas-Coffee County Animal Shelter. The Douglas-Coffee County Animal Shelter is located at 620 Iron Road in Douglas.

If special circumstances arise within the city limits, other measures to properly surrender the dog or cat may be taken. For more information, please contact the Douglas-Coffee County Animal Shelter at (912) 384-8031.
