Mr. Rudolph Barrington, age 99 of Douglas, passed away late Thursday evening March 9, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Barrington was born November 2, 1923 to the late Ollie Barrington and the late Sarah Moore Barrington. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Ronald Keith Barrington; 3 Siblings: E. J. Barrington, William Barrington and Margaret Courson. 

 

 

Mr. Barrington, a native of Douglas, had retired after 30 years of service as a rural postal carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Marines. He served in the Marshall Islands and Iwo Jima, during which time he was wounded in action. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Barrington was an active member of Covenant Christian Church. His love for music was always evident at church where he had led the choir for years.

His wife of 76 years: Mary Frances Chaney Barrington of Douglas, GA 

 

 

6 Children: Sonja McKinnon of Calhoun, GA 

Rudy Barrington and wife Nancy of Waycross, GA 

Lynn Barrington Pack of Madison, GA 

Sharon B. Lott and husband Jimmy of Douglas, GA 

Bari B. Stewart and husband Clarence of Jacksonville Beach, FL 

Randy Barrington and wife Stacey of McComb, MS 

 

 

13 Grandchildren: Fran Bradbury of Birmingham, AL 

Matt McKinnon of Calhoun, GA 

Amy Bryant of Cordele, GA 

Bo Barrington of Denver, CO 

Sophia Carver of Madison, GA 

Stacey Harper of Douglas, GA 

Christi Thomas of Douglas, GA 

Kim Hardy of Chula, GA 

Cam Fambrough of Hickory Bluff, GA 

Clint Stewart of Douglas, GA 

Ryan Stewart of Jacksonville Beach, FL 

Candace Veasey of Winterville, GA 

John Barrington of AL 

 

 

Numerous Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren 

 

 

Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many Friends 

 

 

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Covenant Christian Church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, the hour of the funeral. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Covenant Christian Church with Rev. Gregory Pope and Rev. Stacey Carver officiating. The interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery 

 

 

Active Pallbearers for the service will be: Matt McKinnon, Bo Barrington, Stacey Harper, Cam Fambrough, Scott Bradbury, Nat Griffin and Clint Stewart. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
