Shirley Jane Berk Tanner, age 97, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Tanner was born on May 31, 1925, in Richmond Hill, CA to the late Joseph Raymond Berk and Valera Screvens  Berk.

 

 

Survivors include: Daughter, Patricia Anderson of Douglas, GA, Daughter, Cathy Lynn (David) McDonald of Douglas, GA, Grandchildren, Dr. Amy (Dr. Richard) Stevens of Vienna, GA, Adam Wayne (Summer) Anderson of Alma, GA, Candace (Britt) McDade of Vidalia, GA, Whitney (Joseph) Meeks of Douglas, GA, Great-Grandchildren, Abby Stevens, Tanner Stevens, Luke Stevens, Audrey Stevens, Anna Claire Stevens, Brantley Anderson, Riyn Anderson, Hamp McDade, Levi McDade, Grayson McDade, Josie Meeks, Allie Jane Meeks, and Several Nieces and Nephews.

 

 

Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by: Her Husband, Paul Herman Tanner; Father, Joseph Raymond Berk; and Mother, Valera Screvens Berk.

 

 

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Carver Baptist Church as part of the regular morning worship service with Rev. Philip Corbean officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery at a later date.

 

 

Memorialization will be by cremation.

 

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
