Mr. T. J. Carver, age 78 of Ambrose, GA passed away Monday morning, March 13, 2023 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Carver was born October 5, 1944 to the late Elmer Carver and the late Mary Lee Story Carver. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Sisters: Earnell Carver and Vernell Williams. 

 

 

Mr. Carver, a native of Coffee County, was a retired truck driver for Elixir Industries, Justice Trucking and Coffee County Gin. He was a member of Wray Holiness Baptist Church where he had been a deacon for approximately 20 years. He loved spending time with his grand children and great grandchildren. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later he developed a love for antique collecting, especially 

antique clocks. His favorite place to be was either in the prayer closet or in church worshipping his Lord and Savior. If you have ever been in church with him you saw him do the “TJ Shuffle.”

4 Children: Buddy Carver and wife Cindy of Douglas, GA 

Silas (Doodlebug) Carver and wife Sherry Carver of Alapaha, GA 

Gail Merritt and husband Michael of Douglas, GA 

Hope Hall and husband Jody of Ambrose, GA 

 

 

8 Grandchildren: Ethan Carver and wife Kayla of Willacoochee, GA 

Whitley and husband Matthew “Fred” Merritt of Ambrose, GA 

Brittany Phillips and husband Jesse of Douglas, GA 

Brandi Merritt of Douglas, GA 

Brenley Wilson and husband Jarrett of Willacoochee, GA 

Brooke Carver of Alapaha, GA 

Anna Hall of Ambrose, GA 

Evan Hall of Ambrose, GA 

 

 

7 Great Grandchildren and 1 on the way 

 

 

2 Brothers: W. A. Carver of Wray, GA 

Billy Carver and wife Kathy of Ambrose, GA 

 

 

A number of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many Friends 

 

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, March 14, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home. 

 

 

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, March 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Wray Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Holt, Rev. Steve Willingham, Rev. Daniel Smith and Rev. Kevin Vickers officiating. The internment will follow in Wray Cemetery. 

 

 

Active Pallbearers for the service will be: Ethan Carver, Matthew “Fred” Merritt, David Medders, Jamie Medders, Jarrett Wilson and James Griffin. 

Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be: Congregation of Wray Holiness Baptist Church, Bro. Edsel Young, Bro. Larry Bowen, Bro. Stanley Tyson, Bro. Marshall Dye, Bro. John Sewell, Bro. Junior Morgan, Bro. Rob Merritt, Bro. Brad Fuller, Bro. Harold Barnes and Bro. Darin Wilson.
