Mrs. Mary Alice Guess, age 73 years old, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Monday, February 27, 2023, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. 

 

 

She was born in Homerville, Ga. on July 9, 1949, daughter of Dewey and Sara Mae Cribbs.  Mary Alice enjoyed going to yard sales, riding the golf cart, working in the yard, listening to her favorite band, The Danny Dawson Band, and working with her close friend, Shirley, at Bennett’s Florist in Pearson.  She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Bobby Joe Guess, Sr., 2 brothers: Elton Cribbs and Willard Cribbs, and her sister, Nellouise Ellis.

 

 

Survivors include:

 

 

Son: Bobby Joe (Jody) Guess, Jr. and wife Melissa of Douglas, Ga.

 

 

Sister:  Ima Jean Knowles of Fargo, Ga.

 

 

3 Brothers:  Allen Cribbs and wife Wesley Jane of Jasper, Fl.

James Cribbs and wife Wanda of Jennings, Fl.

Lamar Cribbs and wife Karen of Keaton Beach, Fl.

 

 

3 Grandchildren: Brianna Guess, Kyndall Guess, and Mason Guess

 

 

Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

 

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Guess were held Thursday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Brad Luke and Rev. Edward Mathews officiating. Musical selections included, “Amazing Grace” and “When I Get Where I’m Going” by cd.  The interment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery with special song by the Danny Dawson Band, “Something About Life” rendered by cd.

 

 

Serving as active pallbearers were:  William Howling, James Gore, Danny Dawson, Allen Spikes, Shawn Wilkerson, and Shane Hersey. 

 

 

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
