Dotson arrested, jailed for third time this month

March hasn’t been a good month for Harry Jonathan Dotson, 48. He has been arrested at least three times this month, including twice on consecutive days. His most recent arrest came on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

 

 

On March 10, DouglasNow reported that Dotson had been arrested on March 3 and March 4. He was charged with public intoxication both times. 

Last week, Dotson showed up at Walmart, allegedly drunk again, and causing another disturbance. Only this time, he allegedly threatened to kill a police officer’s family.

 

According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, a call came in from Walmart about an individual walking around the parking lot drunk. When a police officer arrived, a woman told the officer than a man, later identified as Dotson, had come up to her son and said something to him before walking off.

 

 

Dotson saw the officer pull up and ran inside Walmart. The officer found Dotson. The report states that Dotson smelled like alcohol. The officer handcuffed Dotson and took him out of the store. Once outside, the officer reported that Dotson was uncooperative, yelling and cussing the whole time. Some of what he was saying was unintelligible, the report says. 

 

 

The officer placed Dotson under arrest and transported him to the Coffee County Jail. While on the way to the jail, the report states that Dotson was spitting through the cage and telling the officer “to take him to my house and he was going to kill my whole family.” The report also says that Dotson uttered a racial slur in the vehicle. A second officer reported that he heard Dotson tell the first officer that he would kill his family.

 

 

Dotson was charged with terroristic threats and acts as well as disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He remains in the Coffee County Jail.
