Robinson totals 278.3 kilograms at International Weightlifting Federation World Championships

Range Robinson, a junior weightlifter at Coffee High School, finished 15th in the world at the 2023 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships in Durres, Albania, on Wednesday.

 

 

Robinson made three out of six attempts for a total of 278.3 kilograms (557 pounds). He hit two out of three attempts on the snatch, successfully making 106 kilograms (233 pounds) and 110 kilograms (242 pounds). He went for a personal record of 115 kilograms (253 pounds) on this third attempt but missed. On the clean and jerk, he missed 143 kilograms (315 pounds) on his first attempt then came back and completed it on his second. His final attempt of 147 kilograms (323 pounds) got the better of him; however, he still came away with an impressive 278.3 kilogram total.

 

 

Robinson has been in Albania as a member of Team USA since last weekend. Once he returns home, he will set his sights on the USA Weightlifting Youth National Championships. He’s already easily qualified for the meet, which will take place from June 24-July 2 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is a three-time national champion (2019-2021)and was ranked 10th in the IWF world rankings heading into the world championships.
