A traffic stop in Oak Park landed a Douglas man in jail after officers discovered cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.

According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office drug unit, on March 29, officers saw a black car on Sand Street, the tag of which did not match the vehicle. The officers stopped the vehicle and the driver, Howard McGinty, 59, of Douglas, gave his consent for the officers to search the vehicle.

During the search, detectives found a grocery bag inside a compartment in the trunk. The bag contained cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana. The report states that McGinty admitted that he was “holding the drugs for someone.”

McGinty was arrested and transported to the Coffee Jail. He was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana (less than an ounce). He has since been released from jail.
