Kevin Lee James, died tragically in an automobile accident while on spring break in Venice, Fl. March 22, 2023.  

 

 

Kevin was born in Atlanta on June 9, 1968 to Boyd and Peggy James. He resided in Axson, Ga. for most of his childhood.  He graduated from Atkinson County High School in 1986. He then pursued his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Georgia. He remained at UGA to complete his doctorate in Mathematics.  He then moved to Penn State University to complete his postdoctoral work. This is where he met his wife Letitia Vogt and they married June 6, 1999. After his postdoctoral work he became a professor at Clemson University in 2000.  He was an asset to Clemson University and became the Founding Director of the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences within the College of Science. Kevin was a godly man that never met a stranger. He made relationships with friends and family a top priority. He will be greatly missed. 

 

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd James.

 

 

Survived by:

 

 

Wife:  Letitia James of Seneca, S.C.

 

 

Mother:  Peggy James of Douglas, GA.

 

 

Daughter:  Alexa James Morton and husband Kyle of Greenville, S.C.

 

 

Son:  Robert James of Seneca, S.C.

 

 

Brother:  Ken James and wife Michane of Valdosta, G.A.

 

 

Several other relatives also survive.

 

 

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time. His wife Letitia was also in the accident and is fighting for her life in Sarasota.  

 

 

Relihan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
