A detective from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office arrested and jailed a Douglas man on drug possession charges following a traffic stop on Ramblewood Road.

According to an incident report, a detective was patrolling the area on April 14 when he saw a red Ford F-150 driving erratically at a high rate of speed. He stopped the vehicle and spoke with Bryant Adams, the driver. The detective smelled marijuana and Adams admitted that he had smoke marijuana earlier in the day.

The detective searched the vehicle and found a black magnetic box under the front seat. Inside the box were three different tablets, one of which was Clonezapam, a Schedule IV controlled substance. The other tablets were not controlled substances, according to the report. The box also contained digital scales typically used to weigh illegal narcotics.

Adams admitted to taking 12 of the pills at night and 11 in the morning, the report states. He added that he has a problem with the pills.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, drugs not in original container, and possession of a drug-related object. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail but has since been released.
