DPD, other agencies search Seventeen Mile River for missing woman

County EMA personnel search the Seventeen Mile River on Friday morning for Maria Diaz, who has been missing since February 7, 2023.

Friday morning, officers from the Douglas Police Department, Coffee County EMA/Fire Department, and other agencies searched the Seventeen Mile River and the surrounding woods at the West Green Highway bridge for Maria Diaz, who has been missing since February.

 

 

During the course of the investigation, officers identified several areas if interest that Diaz was close to near the time of her disappearance. Investigators found nothing of interest on Friday. This is only one of several areas they intend to search in the coming days and weeks.

 

 

Diaz is a Hispanic female and is described as 5’3″ tall with brown hair and brown eyes.  She was last seen on February 7, 2023.  During the investigation, her last known location was determined to be on the 900 block of East Ethel Street in Douglas.
