A man who allegedly shot multiple people 11 years ago at a Coffee County Mobile Home Park is still on the run. David Rios, aka Benjamin Mora Tinajero, aka Angel Mora Miguel, is on Coffee County’s Most Wanted List for three counts of aggravated assault with a gun, first degree burglary, and possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime.

On September 23, 2012, a Coffee County deputy responded to a “shots fired” call from Groves Mobile Home Park on Highway 441 South. 911 advised that there was a single victim and the subject with the gun was allegedly continuing to shoot.

According to the responding deputy, when he arrived on the scene, there was an unidentified male who was bleeding heavily from his legs laying on the ground. While rendering aid to the victim, an unidentified female approached the responding deputy and made him aware of an injured victim at her residence. At that time, it is reported that the deputy observed his sergeant stating he was also aiding two unidentified male victims.

According to the unidentified female, the shooter had fled the scene on foot and indicated that he ran toward Highway 441 South. Reportedly, the deputy then followed the unidentified female into one of the mobile homes where he observed a possible fourth victim. The deputy reported that the victim was laying on the living room floor bleeding severely. According to the deputy, he observed what appeared to be a total of 4 gunshot wounds and grazing wounds to the victim. He rendered aid until EMS arrived and loaded the victim into an ambulance.

The responding deputy was then advised to begin interviewing potential witnesses and receive their statements. According to the report, the deputy made contact with several witnesses who pointed to Lot 9. The deputy reportedly spoke with two juvenile witnesses from Lot 9 who allegedly saw two males, nickname “Jere” aka David Rios, and Oliver LNU, fighting in the doorway of Lot 5. According to the two witnesses, Rios struck Oliver several times with a large wooden stick as he was trying to escape.

According to another witness, several loud noises that sounded like gun shots were heard. The witness stated they then left their yard to look in the direction of Lot 5 and observed Rios striking Oliver in the head and face with a wooden stick. The witness claimed that then, several other people began approaching the incident, but once Rios saw the approaching crowd, he reportedly ran away toward Highway 441 South.

As stated in the report, this same witness also informed the deputy that Rios was involved in an altercation that same day at a night club in Alma at approximately 2:20 am.

The deputy reportedly then made contact with a witness who was involved in this night club altercation on September 23, 2012. According to the witness, Rios attempted to dance with a 15-year-old girl so she intervened. She stated that Rios then became angry and appeared to want to fight inside the club. She reported that her boyfriend, Oliver LNU, then stepped in to defend her. Oliver, his girlfriend, and their group of friends were escorted out of the club by security. According to Oliver’s girlfriend, the witness that tried to intervene with Rios and the 15-year-old girl, security then walked her and their group to their vehicle and watched them drive away.

According to the witness, at approximately 9:15 am that same morning, she received a phone call at her residence from Oliver’s roommates. Reportedly, they were calling to advise that Rios, the alleged shooter, had contacted them stating he wanted money from Oliver for a damaged rear view window and was also going to “beat him up.”

Oliver’s girlfriend then stated she dropped Oliver off at his residence at Groves Mobile Home Park, and headed to the shoe store on West Baker Highway where Rios was employed. She reportedly made contact with Rios at his job and informed him that Oliver, her boyfriend, had in fact not damaged his vehicle. According to the witness, this made Rios visibly angry. The witness then stated she had no further contact with the alleged shooter after this incident occurred.

Keep in mind that the alleged shooter went by multiple names and nicknames: Jere, David Rios, Benjamin Mora Tinajero, and Angel Mora Miguel. The subject’s date of birth is October 15, 1990, height is 5’2” tall, weight is approximately 130 pounds, and eye color is brown. If you have any information on this case or the whereabouts of “David Rios,” please contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office at 912-384-4227 or submit a tip on the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department app.
