Kimberly McDonald, RN, MSN has been named the new Associate of Science Nursing Instructor for Wiregrass Georgia Technical College on the Coffee Campus.  McDonald has been working in the Nursing field since 2016.  She holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Berry College, an Associate of Science from Darton State College (now Albany State University), and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science as a Nurse Educator from Western Governors University.

McDonald has worked in Emergency Care, Medical Surgical, Intensive Care, Same Day Surgery, Swing Bed, Geriatric-psych, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. She also brings experience as a staff nurse, contract nurse, nurse administration, and travel nurse. The college announced earlier that they are bringing the Associate of Science in Nursing program to the Coffee and Ben Hill-Irwin Campuses starting in Fall 2023.  The RN program will be accepting 30 students starting Fall Semester 2023 on the Coffee Campus and Fall Semester 2024 a new cohort will begin on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus.  The two campuses will rotate new classes every other year.  In September 2022, Coffee Regional Medical Center announced they were committing $300,000 payable over the next four years to the Wiregrass Tech Foundation North.  The pledge will support costs for the new RN program on the Coffee Campus.

Wiregrass started the RN program on the Valdosta Campus in the Spring of 2014 and has had great success The RN program at Wiregrass has been named the number one program in the state for 2023, 2022, 2020, and 2019 according to NursingProcess.org.

McDonald shared, “There is a great need for not only more nurses in these communities but also a need for local job training.  I am excited about students increasing their earning potential by receiving an ASN and I am excited about Wiregrass filling the gap to provide accessible education to his area.”
