On Tuesday, May 30, drug unit officers arrested Martin Tinajero, 27, of Douglas, on illegal drug charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, after he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign on Isaac Brigmond Road.

That day around noon, detectives were patrolling Isaac Brigmond Road when they noticed a gold Toyota Camry fail to stop at a stop sign, according to the incident report. Officers made a traffic stop and identified the driver as Tinajero, someone they suspected of dealing illegal drugs.

During the stop, officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle. They searched the Camry and found a Glock 9mm handgun under the seat, a jar containing marijuana, and a plastic container that held a large amount of suspected methamphetamine. The report states that Tinajero then admitted that he had more meth at his home located on Highway 32 West.

Officers obtained a search warrant and went to his house. There they found two more plastic containers with large amounts of suspected methamphetamine, three glass jars containing suspected marijuana, a glass jar containing suspected psilocybin mushrooms, a large digital scale, more suspected methamphetamine in an abandoned vehicle located on the property, and a silver handgun.

Detectives field tested all the suspected methamphetamine and received positive results. Detectives weighed the suspected methamphetamine and the resulting combined weights were approximately 5 pounds 8 ounces. Detectives weighed the suspected psilocybin mushrooms and the resulting weight was approximately 4 grams. Detectives also weighed the suspected marijuana and the resulting combined weight was approximately 3 ounces.

Tinajero was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine (two counts), possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, possession of marijuana more than one ounce, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime (two counts), possession of marijuana less than one ounce, and possession of drug related charges. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail where he remains.
