It’s never a good idea to drive 72 mph in a 45 zone. It’s an especially bad idea if you allegedly have illegal drugs in your vehicle.

On May 25 at around 4 p.m, an officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 221 North in Oak Park traveling 72 mph. The speed zone through that area is 45 mph.

The driver, Dalton Lee Wright, 25, of Monroe, a convicted felon, was the only person in the vehicle. A search yielded methamphetamine and a rifle.

Wright was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm or knife in the commission or attempt to commit certain felonies, obstruction, and speeding. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail where he remains.
