A home on Sugarbrook Road in Broxton was the scene of a crazy incident on the morning of June 16. As a result, Jekevious Ronard Gaskin, 32, of Douglas, was arrested on aggravated assault and theft by taking charges.

According to the incident report, Gaskin went to the home on Sugarbrook Road to see the female victim, his ex-girlfriend, who said she worked for the owner of the house. Gaskin knocked on the door and no one answered. Both the victim and the homeowner were inside the house. However, the report states that Gaskin opened the unlocked door and announced his presence.

The victim then went outside and spoke with Gaskin. She said she didn’t want him anymore and that’s when, according to the report, “all hell broke loose.”

The victim stated that Gaskin grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground. Then he pushed her face in the dirt and punched her in the head three times. The victim managed to get away, the report says, and ran toward a fence. Gaskin caught up to her and held her face down on the ground again. The victim fought back and escaped. She ran to a Chevrolet Avalanche that Gaskin had driven to the home and jumped in. She said that she had driven a Ford F-150 that morning but Gaskin had gotten the keys to the truck. The report says that Gaskin had the keys to the pickup and the victim’s phone. She told him to give her the keys and her phone or she would drive off. The report says that Gaskin refused so the victim drove off in the Avalanche with Gaskin holding on.

Gaskin eventually fell off the truck and the victim went back to the F-150 to get her new boyfriend’s wallet, the report says. The report adds that at some point during the altercation, Gaskin pointed a gun at the victim and told her that she would die that day. The victim drove into Jeff Davis County and left the Avalanche on Mt. Pleasant Church Road. She then caught a ride to Broxton, where deputies interviewed her.

In the meantime, Gaskin had called 911 and said he was walking to Broxton. Gaskin said that he went to the victim’s boss’s house that morning and saw that his ex was driving another man’s truck. He said that the victim came outside and wanted to fight. He said that she scratched him then dragged him down the road in his vehicle. She left the vehicle somewhere, he said, then had someone bring her back to the F-150.

Officers spoke to the owner of the home on Sugarbrook Road. He said that Gaskin knocked on the door and neither he nor the victim opened it because “he was getting ready.” He said that Gaskins knocked a second time then came around to a window. He was looking inside the house, yelling for the victim to come outside, according to the report. The homeowner said that the victim went outside when she thought that Gaskins had gotten into his truck.

When the victim “made it past the gate” Gaskin attacked, the report says. The homeowner said he saw Gaskin drag the victim to the ground by her hair then place his foot on the back of her head and push it to the ground. The victim managed to get up and go to the F-150 when Gaskin grabbed her by the hair again and dragged her to the Avalanche. The report says he “threw her inside then left.”

The victim showed signs of being in an altercation but refused medical treatment. Gaskin was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and theft by taking. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail but has since been released.
