Mrs. Louise Nelson McClelland, age 89 of Douglas, passed away Thursday evening, June 22, 2023 at her residence following and extended illness. 

 

 

Mrs. McClelland was born September 5, 1933 to the late Noah Nelson and the late Stella Nelson. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Michael Wayne McClelland, 1 Brother and 5 Sisters. 

 

 

Mrs. McClelland, a native of Douglas, GA, was a bookkeeper for several churches and had worked with the Internal Revenue Service. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Douglas. She was also a member of Woman’s Club of Douglas and Terry Parker Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL, She loved to travel and cook Southern style. Mrs. McClelland had the gift of hospitality for people whom she entertained in her home. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

Her husband of 70 years: J.L. McClelland of Douglas, GA 

 

 

2 Children: Pam Ouzts and husband Ted of Blairsville, GA 

Jimmy McClelland and wife Surina of Jacksonville, FL 

 

 

4 Grandchildren: Preston Devall of Tallahassee, FL 

Aaron Devall of Tallahassee, FL 

James McClelland of Jacksonville, FL 

Chase McClelland of Beverly Hills, FL 

 

 

4 Great Grandchildren: Laila, Nolan, Nash and Lucas 

 

 

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Other Relatives 

 

 

The family will receive friends, Monday morning, June 26, 2023 form 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church Chapel. The funeral service will be held Monday morning, June 26. 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. The interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery. 

 

 

The active pallbearers for the service will be: Greg King, George King, Josh McClelland, Rudy Johnson, Reggie Johnson and Steve McClelland. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
