On Wednesday, June 28, gunshots rang out in the city in three different shooting incidents.

DouglasNow has already covered two of the three. The first took place on Pinecrest Drive and South Gaskin Avenue around 6 a.m. It resulted in the arrests of two individuals — Jaquiez Young and Isaiah Wright, both of whom remain in the Coffee County Jail. The last shooting of the day happened on North June Avenue; no arrests have been made in that incident.

The day’s second shooting occurred at apartments on West Phillips Street at 3:40 p.m. Witnesses reported that a white vehicle turned down an alley that connects West Phillips Street and West Bryan Street. The occupants of the vehicle, witnesses said, began shooting at a man standing in the yard of the apartments. The man started running in a westerly direction. The vehicle left and headed in the same direction.

Douglas police officers found two 9mm shell casings in the area the shots came from. The shooters apparently missed their target; no victim has come forward to report the shooting and people in the area did not give a description of the occupants of the vehicle.

No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation — along with the day’s two other shootings.
