Known by all that knew him as the hardest working man on earth, Anthony Carl Gordon, 68, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

Anthony, known as Tony, was born to Mary (Lott) Snyder and Bill Snyder, on October 25, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a talented high school athlete who moved to South Georgia during his early 20’s where he began his lifelong work in the construction industry.

Tony is survived by his wife, Lori and Tony’s two daughters and their families: Stacy and Michael Walter and his Granddaughter Sydney; Lisa and Jeff Walston and his Grandchildren; Ashlynn (David), Micah and Aiden and Lori’s Son; Chance.

Tony is also survived by his two sisters and their families: Debbie and Danny Vance and his nephew, Jarrod; Lisa and Phil Bailey and his nephew, Aaron. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; Mary and Bill, his stepfather, Butch Gordon, his brother; Artie, and his nephew, Ryan.

Aside from his ability to build everything and provide counsel on anything to do with your home, Tony was best known for the love of his two daughters and his grandchildren. There was nothing that brought him more pride and happiness than spending time with them and sharing stories about them to anyone who would listen.

Tony cherished his wife, Lori. They had a beautiful marriage. They shared so much happiness and fun times together. Also, he loved spending quality and fun times at the beach with family and friends.

He loved spending time drinking coffee and talking about the day with his lifelong friends (whom he had a lot of). His sisters and their family recently moved to Florida, and he was so excited as it allowed them to spend more time together, something he truly loved.

Tony’s family will host services on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Stokesville Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 2pm, Church services at 3pm and a meal in the social hall to follow.

Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
