Mr. David Thurston Harper, age 86 of Douglas, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2023 at his granddaughter’s house following an extended illness.
Mr. Harper was born October 23, 1936 to the late David J. “D. J.” Harper and the late Mary Vining Harper. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sue Bowman Harper; 1 Son, Ricky Harper and 1 Brother, James Harper.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, July 18, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning, July 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Harper officiating. The interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers for the service will be: Dustin Montgomery, Charles Smith, Rodney Harper, Ethan Hill, Curt Barlow and Greg Harper.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Elks Club.
