Late last month, a chance encounter between a detective and a suspected drug dealer landed a Douglas woman in jail on methamphetamine trafficking charges.

According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office, a detective saw Delita Gale Montoya, 47, pull into a convenience store in the county. The detective knew that Montoya was trafficking methamphetamine and had a suspended license, according to the report. Her license was suspended due to failure to appear for court and child support violations, the report states.

The detective approached Montoya and placed her under arrest. During the investigation, the detective discovered 45 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Montoya was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and driving with a suspended license. She remains in the Coffee County Jail.
