According to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, August, 7, an officer pulled a vehicle over at the new Jet Food Store after noticing the two front passengers were not wearing a seatbelt. In the car were 24-year-old Richard Spivey, 41-year-old Randy Carver, and 21-year-old Emily Harper.

The incident report states that the officer noticed a lot of movement coming from the front and back seat of the car before approaching the vehicle. Upon arriving at the driver’s side, the report states the officer could see the front passenger, Randy Carver, moving his arms in his lap and taking a sudden swallow from a drink. It is also noted that the officer could see what appeared to be a crystal-like substance in Carver’s lap.

After detaining Carver, the officer ordered Spivey and Harper out of the vehicle. According to the report, Spivey told the officer that there was nothing illegal in the vehicle before he began to search it. Reportedly, multiple bags of suspected methamphetamine were found, one of which was hidden inside a foam stuffed animal. It is also reported that suspected marijuana was found inside the car, as well as a 9mm magazine in the driver’s side door, and a 9mm handgun attached to a magnetic strip under the steering wheel.

The individuals were charged with possession of marijuana, possession and use of drug related objects, use of safety belts in vehicles, possession of controlled substance or marijuana, possession of firearm or knife during certain crimes. All were arrested and taken to the Coffee County Jail. They have since been released.
