Trojans rack up 458 total yards in win over Tift County Blue Devils

The Coffee Trojans racked up some impressive stats in last Friday night’s 38-13 win over the visiting Tift County Blue Devils. 

 

 

Coffee scored first to take a 7-0 lead. Tift promptly tied the score at seven apiece. From there, it was all Coffee; the Trojans scored 31 unanswered points and didn’t surrender another Tift touchdown until there was less than 4:00 on the clock.

 

 

Senior running back Fred Brown led the offensive attack for Coffee. Brown had 234 yards on 27 carries and two touchdowns. He averaged nearly nine yards per carry. The Trojans’ second leading rusher was senior quarterback Maurice Hansley, who 34 yards on a  pair of carries. He also completed 11 of 15 passes for 183 yards. He threw two touchdowns to one interception.

 

 

Senior H-back Range Robinson was Coffee’s leading receiver on the night. He caught one pass for 53 yards and the Trojans’ first touchdown. Fellow H-back Brady Shook caught three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown as well.

 

 

The Coffee offense tallied 458 total yards on the night.

 

 

Defensively, junior linebacker Jyarius Carter led the way with eight total tackles (three solo, five assisted). Senior cornerback Jaquavious Simpkins finished with seven tackles (one solo, six assisted). Juniors Mykevious Smith and Isaiah Johnson totaled six tackles each. 

 

 

Senior cornerback Anthony Paulk blocked a Tift field goal and extra point while sophomore running back/returner KJ DeBruce returned two kicks for 30 yards.

Friday night, a talented Bainbridge Bearcats team makes the long trip from Southwest Georgia to Jardine Stadium for a 7:30 kickoff. Last year, the Bearcats defeated the Trojans 24-21 in Bainbridge with a last-minute score on their final possession.
