Mrs. Doris Cox Clark Bell Powell, age 82 of Douglas, passed away Tuesday morning, August 29, 2023 at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, GA following an extended illness. Mrs. Powell was born March 25, 1941 to the late Jasper Maine Cox and the late Thelma Gordon Switzer Cox. 

 

 

Mrs. Powell, was born in Mississippi, but had lived in Georgia for many years. She was a floral designer with Bem’s Florist for a number of years. She also worked in the administrative office at Wal-mart Distribution Center – Douglas Office. Mrs. Powell was a member of West Ward Church of God but she had also attended Morningside Baptist Church for several years. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

Her Husband: Johnnie Powell of Douglas, GA 

 

 

1 Daughter: Melanie Clark Jamal and husband Mohamad of Columbia, SC 

 

 

1 Sister: Faye Griffis of Douglas, GA 

 

 

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends 

 

 

The family will receive friends, Sunday afternoon, September 3, 2023 at West Ward Church of God from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at 3:00 PM.  The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, September 3, 2023 at 3:00 PM at West Ward Church of God with Bishop Britt Peavy officiating. The interment will follow at Satilla Memorial Gardens. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
