Ms. Clara Lee Moody Mercer, age 86 of Willacoochee, GA passed away late Tuesday night, September 19, 2023 at Baptist Village in Waycross, GA. Ms. Mercer was born March 3, 1937 to the late Henry L. Moody and the late Inie Mock Moody. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlie Ben Mercer. 

 

 

Ms. Mercer was born in Pierce County, GA but had lived in the Willacoochee area for many years. She had worked for Williams Institutional Foods for a number of years. Mrs. Mercer was of the Baptist faith. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

6 Children: Carlie (Patti) Mercer of Nicholls, GA 

Charles (Donna) Mercer of Broxton, GA 

Sylvia (Lowell) Burnam of Willacoochee, GA 

Clara Sue Taylor (Michael) of Willacoochee, GA 

Glen (Rhonda) Mercer of Douglas,GA 

Ben (Wendy) Mercer of Douglas, GA 

 

 

A Special Niece: Paula Michelle Avery of Lakeland, GA 

 

 

A number of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren 

 

 

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. 

 

 

The family will receive friends Friday evening, September 22, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Free Point Church 237 Estlee Mercer Road Douglas, GA 31535 with Rev. Javaris Wright, Rev. Casey Wright , Rev. Gregory Pope and Rev. Brandon Burnam officiating. The interment will follow in Sweetwater Cemetery in Atkinson County. 

 

 

Pallbearers for the service will be: Brad Mercer, Charles Mercer, Jr. Chad Mercer, Brandon Burnam, Anthony Taylor, Josh Mercer, Carson Mercer and Michael Taylor. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
