Mr. Robert Vining, age 84 of Douglas, GA, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 17, 2023 at Lakeside Senior Living following an extended illness. Mr. Vining was born November 27, 1938 to the late Leon Vining and the late Gladys Marie Grantham Vining. 

 

 

Mr. Vining, a native of Coffee County, had been self-employed in the construction industry for many years. He was a member of Calvary Mission Holiness Baptist Church. He had also served in the National Guard. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

His Wife of 39 years: Sandra Simmons Vining of Douglas, GA 

 

 

4 Children 

 

 

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends 

 

 

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, October 19, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home. The graveside service and interment will be held on Friday afternoon, October 20, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Bethany Cemetery with Rev. Gene Chaney, Rev. Dodie Hersey and Rev. Dennis Harper officiating. 

 

 

Pallbearers for the service will be: Kevin Wright, Alfred Hersey, Rev. Dodie Hersey and Rev. Gene Chaney, Quinton Harper and Rev. Dennis Harper. 

 

 

Honorary Pallbearers for the service: The men of Calvary Mission Church 

 

 

Special Musical Selection for the service will be”When I Cross that River” sung by the Hersey Family. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
