A Douglas man remains behind bars after he allegedly refused to leave a local church during a birthday party.
According to an incident report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, a birthday party was being held at a church in the county when someone noticed an individual later identified as Austin Musgrove, 26, on the front porch. Someone with the party approached Musgrove and spoke to him. The report states that Musgrove “just grunted.” He was asked to leave the property but, the report says, he refused.
The complainant reported the incident and a deputy responded. According to the report, Musgrove eventually left the property. The deputy found Musgrove down the road from the church. The report says that Musgrove was “belligerent and agitated” when the officer spoke with him. Musgrove admitted to being at the church but the report says Musgrove stated that he was never told to leave. He said he was at the church because he was tired, according to the report.
Musgrove was arrested and charged with criminal trespass. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail, where he remains.
