Wiregrass honors Radiologic Technology students with award ceremony

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College held an award ceremony recognizing outstanding Radiologic Technology students.  Wiregrass President DeAnnia Clements welcomed students, family members, and clinical supporters.  

 

 

The Robert B. Quattlebaum Awards, sponsored by Radiology Associates of Valdosta, were awarded to three seniors to defray the cost of the registry fee. The Robert B. Quattlebaum Award recipients were Alylin DeJesus, Ally Deaton, and Tatianna Morton.  Junior Radiologic Technology Student Eli Pafford received a $250 scholarship. 

 

 

The Franklin Eldridge Scholastic Award for top grade point average was awarded to Ally Deaton.  This award is sponsored by South Georgia Radiology Consultants. Fletcher has already accepted a full-time position at Georgia Bone and Joint Surgeons in Cartersville, Georgia.

 

 

Outstanding Students Awards were voted on by employees of each clinical setting and were awarded to the best clinical student during the program. Students who received this award were Makayla Jordan, South Georgia Medical Center; Renee Trout, South Georgia Medical Center – Lanier Campus; Nicole Williams, SGMC- Imaging Center; Chelsea Champion, Dorminy-Medical Medical Center in Fitzgerald; Josie Eldridge, Hughston Sports Clinic in Valdosta; Kaden Walker, Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas; Tatianna Morton, Smith Northview Campus in Valdosta; Makayla Jordan, Valdosta Orthopedic Associates; Kaden Walker, SGMC – Berrien Campus; and Alison Newell, Southwell-Adel Primary.

 

 

The Radiologic Technology Class of 2023 includes Sidney Boone from Valdosta, Tyler Cater from Lake Park, Chelsea Champion from Ocilla, Natalie Chandler from Nashville, Aylin DeJesus from Douglas, Ally Deaton from Canton, Curry Dorminey from Enigma; Josie Eldridge from Thomaston; Joseph Ezekiel III from Tifton, Makayala Jordan from Valdosta, Sara-Kate Lupo from Alapaha, Arcacia McQueen from Valdosta, Tatianna Morton from Colorado, Alison Newell from Quitman, Britney Roberts from Valdosta, Renee Trout from Nashville, Kaden Walker from Douglas, Kelsie Williams Ibarra from Barney, Nicole Williams from Marietta, and Markaela Zirkle from Nashville.  The Radiologic Technology Program partners with area medical and clinical facilities to prepare graduates for a career as a Radiologic Technologist.  At this time 10 students have already accepted job offers while others are waiting to hear back from their job interviews or return to college to further their education.

 

 

Instructors in the Radiologic Technology program are Jennifer Ray, Director of Radiology Technology; Terri Trowell, Clinical Coordinator; Erin Whitesell Clinical Instructor, and Glenda Braswell, Adjunct Instructor. The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and accepts new students each Fall Semester on the Valdosta Campus.

 

 

Those interested in this program can begin taking core classes Spring Semester.  Classes will begin on January 8, 2024.   Anyone interested in taking classes online or learning more about the programs offered is encouraged to visit www.wiregrass.edu.
